View Guide →Running a WiFi analysis is simple and takes about 30 seconds. Click the "Check My Network Now" button on the homepage to start the scan. During the scan, we'll test your connection type, security, privacy, speed, and stability. No data is collected or stored - everything happens in your browser.
You can use WiFi.Report as a web app at wifi.report or install our Chrome extension for quicker access. The web version requires no installation. The Chrome extension offers convenient browser integration and one-click access. Both versions provide identical analysis functionality.
WiFi.Report works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. You'll need JavaScript enabled and a stable internet connection. For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of your browser.
This 0-100 score is the average of your Security, Privacy, Speed, and Stability test results. Scores of 80+ are excellent, 60-79 are good, 40-59 are fair, and below 40 indicate poor network health. Use this as a quick indicator of your overall network quality.
The Security score evaluates your connection's encryption, HTTPS usage, and TLS protocols. A high security score means your connection is well-protected. Low scores indicate potential security vulnerabilities that should be addressed.
The Privacy score indicates whether your real IP address is visible to websites. If you're not using a VPN, your IP address may reveal your approximate location and ISP. Using a VPN protects this information by hiding your real IP.
Download Speed measures how fast data comes to you. Upload Speed measures how fast you send data. Latency is the delay in communication. Jitter measures how consistent your latency is. Higher speeds and lower latency are better for most activities.
The Stability score reflects how consistent your network connection is. High stability means few fluctuations in performance. This is important for video calls, gaming, and streaming. Unstable connections cause dropouts and performance issues.
WiFi.Report should complete within 30-60 seconds. If it's taking longer, you may have network connectivity issues. Try refreshing the page and running the test again. If problems persist, try from a different network to isolate the issue.
This usually indicates network connectivity problems or firewall blocking. Try: (1) Refreshing the page, (2) Checking your internet connection, (3) Disabling VPN temporarily, (4) Testing from a different network. Check browser console (F12) for error messages.
Try: (1) Reloading the extension from chrome://extensions/, (2) Fully restarting Chrome, (3) Clearing browser cache, (4) Uninstalling and reinstalling the extension. If issues persist, use the web version at wifi.report or contact support.
Speed varies based on time of day, network load, and server location. Different speed test sites may show different results due to varying methodologies. For best results, run multiple tests and compare averages. Ensure no other devices are heavily using your connection.
Position your router in a central location away from obstacles. Use a clear WiFi channel to avoid interference. Ensure your router firmware is up to date. Use 5GHz band for faster speeds if available. Keep your router away from microwaves and other wireless devices.
Use WPA3 encryption (or WPA2 if WPA3 unavailable). Create a strong, unique password. Disable WPS (WiFi Protected Setup). Hide your SSID if appropriate. Enable router firewall. Regularly update router firmware. Disable guest network if not needed.
Close bandwidth-heavy applications. Use wired connection for gaming/video calls if possible. Reduce number of connected devices. Check for interference from other networks. Reboot your router regularly. Test speed during off-peak hours.
Run WiFi.Report monthly to monitor changes. Update router firmware when available. Restart router weekly for optimal performance. Check for unusual devices on your network. Review router settings periodically. Keep security software current on connected devices.
All WiFi.Report analysis happens 100% in your browser. We never send your test results to our servers. We don't collect, store, or track any network data. Your results remain entirely on your device. This is true for both the web version and Chrome extension.
Your IP address is what makes you visible on the internet. Without a VPN, websites can detect your IP and approximate location. WiFi.Report displays this to show privacy risks. Using a VPN hides your real IP by routing traffic through their servers.
WebRTC is a browser technology that can leak your real IP even when using a VPN. WiFi.Report detects this vulnerability. Most modern VPNs protect against WebRTC leaks. Check your VPN settings for WebRTC protection options.
Websites can identify you by analyzing your browser characteristics (screen resolution, fonts, plugins, etc.). This creates a unique "fingerprint" even without cookies. WiFi.Report detects fingerprinting capabilities. Using privacy-focused browsers helps reduce fingerprinting.
